Mention "Bird List", a relevant point comes to mind - Numbers!

Is numbers that important? I too, invariably has attached numbers besides the names of birds. Not to show tally count on birds spotted but I think that a bird list is important for us to know our progress,

There are other uses for me like:- 1] how well I should know about the possible bird life that could exist in the area 2] in times of doubt, I could refer to the names of birds mentioned and from there on, in focusing my attention to consider certain birds mentioned and from the clue seek to compare the diagnostic feature.

This list below which I have compiled, a fact which I cannot deny, is used by me like I said, as a checklist guiding me to target birds that I have yet to meet up with. Certainly there are weak areas like Marine birds, Swifts and Babblers that I have ignored.

On issue like fulfilling target of achieving the result measured by  numbers, I have little interest. I have being taught by circumstances that even knowing the existence of lifers, specific area and period of time, it is not easy to meet up with them. No excuses, when it comes to chasing numbers, my other list [A-Z bird list] shows that I am not doing that well.

I have complied my own bird list for the country borrowing information available on the net. The style of accepting selected bird names and leaving others out is geared towards assisting me in the hobby of bird watching. Since starting this page, a few revision were made with more names of birds added each time. This happened when new birds whose names did not appeared earlier were confirmed to be spotted.

I find the  information helpful. I feel that it should be useful to others as well.
